The masterpiece long pod broad bean is just about the earliest broad bean to crop from a sowing made in spring. The Meteor broad bean is also successful when sown in autumn. The masterpiece broad bean has a good #old fashioned# broad bean taste, which they retain even when they grow to a large size. If you wish to reduce black fly which can be a problem with some broad beans; pinch out the growing tips of the plants when they are in full flower, this should reduce the black fly risk. Broad bean is a great vegetable to watch growing in your vegetable garden, polytunnel or allotment. They are quick to crop and can be enjoyed with almost any dinner and a great edition to salads
