Actiglene is a unique slurry enhancer. It prevents crust formation and makes the slurry more uniform in the tank which allows for easier agitation. The enhancer breaks down ammonia into mineral nitrogen, which increases the nutrient value of the slurry. Recent Irish trials show that Actiglene treated slurry produces an extra 5 round bales of silage per hectare. During agitation the release of hydrogen sulphide gas is reduced by up to 80%. Time spent agitating can be reduced by two thirds. Ammonia emissions are reduced by up to 50%. The unique formulation increases bacteria activity causing the consistency of the slurry to become more liquid. It converts organic nitrogen to available nitrogen. If slurry has a liquid consistency this reduces agitation costs. The application method is very easy and it can be spread once a week over the slats and floor surfaces. A dusting of 0.5kg of the dry powder is required per livestock unit. Research was carried out in 2015 and 2016 to demonstrate how effective the slurry treated with Actiglene was. The trials started in 2015 and were repeated in 2016. Where Antiglene was used there was a grass yield benefit of up to 0.9 t/ha of DM. This equates to 5 bales of extra silage per hectare.
