The dwarf tulip was introduced in the 17th century in central Asia. In the 19th century, the bulbs were put into production and growers started trialling various combinations. The dwarf tulips are easy to grow and will grow almost anywhere where there is good soil or compost. The best time to plant tulips is late Autumn, once planted the tulip will reach a height of only 10 inches; however, it will return each year.
