The Syringa purple flowered lilac tree is a beautiful potted plant that will grow to a height of 80cm - 100cm (3ft) and have a width of a maximum 4cm. This plant is containerised and comes in a 2L planting pot. This lilac plant is a pollinator plant and is friendly to the bees. The Syringa will flower between May and June and is the perfect choice for small gardens, courtyards, cottages and front gardens.
The Syringa is a hardy plant and can withstand moderate frost. The syringe lilac has a beautiful fragrance and will guarantee to turn your head when you catch the scent. This plant looks best when planted amongst yellow flowering plants. The Syringa can also be enjoyed indoors, as the flowers can be cut and put in a vase. This allows you to enjoy the scent both inside and outside. Plant this plant in an area that receives sunlight, however, it will tolerate moderate shade. The lilac plant prefers fertile, well drained, light or heavy clay, but will survive in a range of soil types. Before planting, soak the pot in water for approximately 10 minutes before putting it in the ground. Once your Syringa plant is planted the following after care should be followed.
After Care
- If dry weather persists, water every 2 days
- Weeding is also essential, especially bind weed which can quickly smoother a young plant
- Keep grass growth away from the base of the plant to ensure a faster growth rate
- Avoid strimming around the plants
