Cydectin LA has been designed to give long-lasting control of internal and external parasites. A single treatment of thick product can give up to 150 days of cover against harmful parasites.
Cydectin LA treats and controls mixed infestations by mature and immature gastro-intestinal nematodes (stomach & gut worms), respiratory nematodes (lungworms) and certain arthropod parasites (Warbles, Lice and Mange Mites).
In cattle, the correct dosage is 0.5ml/50 kg bodyweight. To ensure the administration of a correct dose, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. The accuracy of the dosing device should be checked.
If animals are to be treated collectively rather than individually they should be grouped according to their body weight and dosed accordingly, to avoid under or overdosing.
The injection should be given subcutaneously in the loose tissues on the dorsal surface of the ear, just distal to the distal edge of the auricular cartilage. The ear's dorsal (outer) surface should first be cleansed with antiseptic and allowed to briefly air dry. Palpate the edge of the auricular cartilage closest to the head, on the ear's dorsal (hairy) surface.
Due to the long-lasting protection against dictyocaulus viviparous and the stomach worms, osteria and Haemonchus place, a single treatment with the formulation at turn-out helps control parasitic bronchitis (lungworm) and parasitic gastro-enteritis throughout the grazing season by reducing the build-up of infective larvae on pasture associated with these parasites.
For best results, the injection should be given to each calf of target weight to be grazed together immediately before being turned out to pasture.
Animals should be set stocked throughout the grazing season or moved to a pasture which has not been grazed by other cattle earlier in the season
