Jul 05, 2012
The Glanbia CountryLife branch in Kilmeaden held a fundraising day for Waterford Animal Welfare at their Kilmeaden Fair event on Saturday June 2nd.

Waterford Animal Rescue is a non profit group dedicated to the lifetime care of abused, neglected, confiscated or unwanted animals and birds to prevent them from being destroyed. The animals the centre rescues are mainly dogs and cats, but also horses, donkeys, swans, seals, bats and any other creature that may be suffering. Rescued animals are found permanent homes which have been carefully chosen and no rescued animals are sold or used for breeding.

Welfare Officer Andrew Quinn, who is a familiar sight in his animal ambulance throughout the county of Waterford and beyond, and is appealing to the public for donations to assist with the centre's work; “We are currently caring for twice as many animals as last year and we rely on the goodwill and support of the local community for the donations we receive. Our second biggest outlay is food, after our veterinary bills and we welcome donations of any type of animal feed, hay, equipment or cash contributions. With help from our supporters, we are able to provide temporary care for these animals prior to re-homing on a permanent basis. In the end, it is all about the animals and how we can make their lives better.”

On Saturday June 2nd, CountryLife Kilmeaden held a fundraising day for Waterford Animal Rescue during the annual 'Kilmeaden Fair' event. Volunteers from Waterford Animal Welfare were on hand to talk about the work that they carry out for animals in need and members of the public are encouraged to come and meet some of the rescued animals from the centre.

Gabrielle Power of CountryLife thanks GAIN Feeds, WLR FM, Bobby’s Centra and Stephenson’s Garage for their support and donations towards the fundraising appeal.
