Collect your own seeds

by CountryLife Gardening | Aug 30, 2016
collecting your own seeds

Not only is now a good time to be planting seeds but it is also a great time to start collecting seeds from your own garden. I particularly like to do this with with flowers that have worked really well in the garden so that I can grow more the following year.

If you are collecting your own seeds it pays to be prepared. Have a stack of envelopes with you when you go out and a marker. The marker is the most important thing in my eyes. As soon as you deposit the seeds into an envelope (or a paper bag you can seal) write down the date and what flower the seeds are from. You will be surprised how hard it will be to figure out what seed is which next spring when you go to plant them!
