Not Enough Space?

by Malachy - Horticulturist CountryLife Dungarvan | Apr 06, 2016

Potatoes can be grown in any large containerWhen it comes to growing potatoes you don’t have to have loads of space. You can grow them easily in a large container. Anything from a larger bin bag or even a deep bucket will work. I have used bin bags before and it has worked a treat. You need to fill the bag with good quality compost. I like to use a mixture of 1/3 soil and 2/3 compost mixed together.

Then simply place two/three seed potatoes in the container and let them grow. You will find each container will grow enough potatoes for a small family’s dinner. It is very important if you decide to try this way of growing potatoes that you keep them watered and never let the container dry out in warm weather.
