Watering Hanging Baskets

by CountryLife Gardening | May 15, 2015
Top Tip - Watering your hanging basket.
One of the most frequently asked questions that I get in the garden centre: How to keep your hanging baskets watered?

There are a few different options available. You can buy packets of water retaining gel which will slowly release water in to the baskets for you. You can also buy Container and Basket Compost from Bord na Mona which already has this contained in the mix. Some people advise placing ice cubes in your containers during hot weather but I would say not to do this as itcan damage the plants.

In my own garden I have a number of small bottles filled with water with a small hole in the lid sitting at my door ready to use during hot weather. If I notice the baskets look dry I simple place one of these bottles in the basket to slowly release the water during the day.
