Support Irish-Grown Trees

by User Not Found | Nov 29, 2012

Nothing beats the sight and smell of a real tree but - rather like plants in our garden centres - the closer to home they’re grown, the fresher they’ll be and the longer they’ll last. That’s why all of our Christmas trees are proudly grown on Irish soil.  At CountryLife we are proud that our Christmas trees are Irish grown and this year’s stock will come from Coillte planted forests in Wicklow and Tipperary. The benefits are two-fold in that we are being supplied with premium grade A Irish Christmas trees and the reduced transport distance to our stores reduces our carbon footprint. Our supplier Forest Fresh promotes sustainable foresting, this is an important concern for us at CountryLife. Each year Forest Fresh replant 150,000 trees with an 8 to 10 year harvesting cycle.
A real Christmas Tree

A real Christmas tree will bring a touch nature to your home this winter season and its smell will give a sense of the freshness of the outdoors. On the other hand, an artificial tree may be the choice of many this Christmas. Artificial trees are non-recyclable and non-biodegradable as they contain metal and plastic materials which cannot be broken down naturally without having a negative impact on our environment.

The real Christmas tree will be grown in a sustainable forest where trees are replanted on a cycle basis. A real Christmas tree is a natural living resource and can be disposed of both simply and cost effectively, there are many recycling centres throughout Ireland where you can have your tree mulched with minimum impact on our environment.

The Noble Fir is the ideal decorative tree for your home this Christmas, they are well proportioned, hold their needles well and will provide a lovely pine fragrance throughout your home for the holiday season.

Christmas trees are available in-store from our Ashford, Campile, Castlecomer, Dovehill, Dungarvan, Kilmeadan, Monasterevin and New Ross branches of CountryLife. Call to your local store today to purchase your Christmas tree.
